Al Hirt

Al Hirt was a trumpet player from New Orleans, born in 1922, who built his career around Dixieland jazz and popular music. He had a powerful, technically gifted style and performed across classical, jazz, and pop settings over more than six decades. He earned a Grammy in 1964 for the instrumental hit 'Java' and received 21 Grammy nominations in total.
