Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith (1921-2014) was a guitarist, fiddler, banjo player, and composer from Clinton, South Carolina, who spent much of his career based in Charlotte, North Carolina. He wrote "Guitar Boogie" in 1945, which sold over a million copies, and went on to build one of the first commercial recording studios in the Southeast. He worked across country, gospel, and novelty music, and hosted the first nationally syndicated country music television show.
