Carmen

Carmen Linares, born Carmen Pacheco Rodríguez in 1951 in Linares, Jaén, is a Spanish flamenco singer widely regarded as one of the foremost voices in contemporary cante. She belongs to the generation of artists that includes Paco de Lucía and Camarón de la Isla, and her career spans decades of recordings, live performances, and collaborations across the flamenco world. In 2001 she received Spain's Premio Nacional de Música for interpretation, and in 2022 she was awarded the Princess of Asturias Award in the Arts category.
