Ernesto Lecuona

Ernesto Lecuona (1896-1963) was a Cuban composer and pianist from Guanabacoa, Cuba, who wrote hundreds of pieces drawing on Spanish and Afro-Cuban rhythms. His compositions range from solo piano works and songs to zarzuelas and orchestral pieces, and several of them, including 'Malagueña' and 'Always in My Heart', became widely recognized standards. He performed across the world and recorded extensively, leaving a catalog that has continued to influence Latin and classical music long after his death.
