Freddy Fender

Freddy Fender, born Baldemar Garza Huerta on June 4, 1937, in San Benito, Texas, was a singer whose music drew from country, rock, rockabilly, swamp pop, and Tex-Mex. He built his career on both sides of the Texas-Louisiana border and is the only Hispanic entertainer to win awards from both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. He is also remembered for his work with the Texas Tornados and Los Super Seven.
