Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass

Herb Alpert is a Los Angeles-born trumpeter who built his sound around a style his fans called 'Ameriachi', mixing mariachi, jazz, and easy-listening pop. He co-founded A&M Records in 1962 and assembled the Tijuana Brass as his backing group, becoming one of the most commercially successful instrumental acts of the 1960s. The group gave pop audiences a melodic, brass-driven alternative to rock, racking up a string of hit albums through the decade.
