Johnny Hallyday

Johnny Hallyday, born Jean-Philippe Smet in Paris, was the defining rock and roll star of France for over five decades. He recorded more than a thousand songs and brought the energy of American and British rock to French audiences on a massive scale. He also had a parallel career as an actor, though music remained the center of his public life until his death in 2017.
