Kansas

Kansas is a rock band from Topeka, Kansas, that formed around 1970 after merging two local groups. They play progressive rock with threads of hard rock, folk, and classical music woven through their sound, and a prominent violin that sets them apart from most American rock acts of their era. Over a career stretching more than four decades, they built a following with complex arrangements alongside the kind of guitar-driven rock that earned them a permanent spot on classic rock radio.
