"Lambert, Hendricks & Ross"

Lambert, Hendricks & Ross were an American vocalese trio formed in 1957 by singers Dave Lambert, Jon Hendricks, and Annie Ross. They built their style around putting new lyrics to jazz instrumentals, turning big band solos and bebop melodies into sung vocal performances. The group recorded for Columbia and helped set the direction for later vocal jazz acts, earning admiration from both jazz musicians and vocalists throughout their run in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
