Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong, nicknamed 'Satchmo,' was a jazz trumpeter and vocalist from New Orleans whose career stretched across five decades and multiple eras of American music. He came to prominence in the 1920s with his Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings, establishing himself as one of the first great jazz soloists. Over the years he became a bandleader, singer, film actor, and international star, and his influence spread well beyond jazz into pop and blues.
