Nico

Nico, born Christa Päffgen in Cologne, Germany in 1938, was a model and actress who built a music career rooted in avant-folk, art rock, and experimental sounds. She sang on the Velvet Underground's 1967 debut album before going solo, and her deep, almost monotone voice became one of the most distinctive in that era. Her work influenced generations of artists, particularly in gothic and post-punk circles.
