Omara Portuondo

Omara Portuondo is a Cuban singer and dancer born in Havana in 1930, with a career spanning decades of bolero, son cubano, and jazz. She was a founding member of the vocal group Cuarteto d'Aida and has worked alongside many of Cuba's most celebrated musicians. She gained wide international attention through the Buena Vista Social Club project, which began in 1996.
