Stan Getz

Stan Getz was an American tenor saxophonist born in Philadelphia in 1927, who came up through the big bands of the 1940s before building a long career in bebop and cool jazz. His tone was so distinctively warm and lyrical that fellow musicians nicknamed him 'The Sound'. He also played a central role in bringing bossa nova to American audiences, collaborating with Brazilian musicians like João Gilberto and Antônio Carlos Jobim.
