Tipica 73
Tipica 73 was a charanga and salsa band from New York, formed in 1973 by musicians who had played in Ray Barretto's band. Their name combines 'Tipica', referring to the traditional Cuban charanga ensemble format, with '73' for the year they got together. They became one of the more prominent salsa outfits to come out of New York in the 1970s, and were the first American salsa band to record in Cuba.
