Woody Herman

Woody Herman was a jazz clarinetist, saxophonist, singer, and bandleader born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1913. He led a long series of big bands he called his 'Herds,' playing swing and progressive jazz from the 1930s through the 1980s. He remained active on the road for most of his life, continuously updating his sound and mentoring younger musicians.
