Benny Moré

Benny Moré was a Cuban singer born in Santa Isabel de las Lajas, in central Cuba, widely cited as the greatest vocalist in Cuban music history. He worked across son, mambo, guaracha, and bolero, singing in virtually every Cuban popular style with a voice that earned him the nickname El Bárbaro del Ritmo (the wizard of rhythm). In 1953 he formed his own big band, the Banda Gigante, which became one of the defining Cuban ensembles of the 1950s.
