Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival was a rock band formed in El Cerrito, California, originally coming together as early as 1959 under different names before settling on CCR in 1967. The four-piece, led by singer and songwriter John Fogerty alongside his brother Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford, played a grounded, no-frills style of rock rooted in swamp rock, blues, and country. While their peers in the San Francisco area leaned into psychedelia, CCR kept things direct and working-class, which made them one of the most distinctive American bands of their era.
