Features
Key Signatures, Time Signatures, Rests
The MusicXML output preserves the details that MIDI throws away. Open it in your notation editor and the structure is already there.
Edit Before You Export
Review the transcription in the built-in sheet music viewer. Fix notes or rhythms before exporting so you start clean in your editor.
Why MusicXML over MIDI?
MIDI loses note spelling, enharmonics, time signatures, and rest placement. MusicXML carries all of that into your editor. Less time reformatting, more time composing.

Sheet Music
Our AI technology picks out the notes from your audio and intelligently notates them on a musical staff, automatically detecting a wide range of musical features including time and key signature, trills, staccato, and other expressive markings.
Sheet music is especially valuable for classically trained musicians, music students, music teachers, and composers.

Is Songscription free to use?
Yes. You can transcribe unlimited 30-second clips for free, with a free trial for longer ones. Paid plans give you more transcription time and support for longer files.
Which notation editors can open the MusicXML files?
MuseScore, Sibelius, Finale, Dorico, Notion, and Lilypond (via conversion). MusicXML is the universal exchange format for music notation.
Does the MusicXML include key and time signatures?
Yes. We detect key and time signatures from the audio and encode them in the file. You can also set these manually before transcribing if you already know them.
Can I convert a full band recording to MusicXML?
Yes, one instrument at a time. Pick the instrument you want and we isolate it from the mix. Run it again for each part to build a full score in your notation editor.
What audio formats are supported?
We accept all audio files like MP3, WAV, M4A, MIDI, WebM, and MP4. You can also paste a YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok link, or record straight from your browser.
